The sterile environment of the clinic only amplified his unease. He’d spent years trying to forget the humiliation, the constant bullying at the hands of Todd. Now, Todd was Dr. Todd Evans, providing mental health services. He felt as though a knot had formed in his stomach.

He sat in the waiting room, trying to calm his racing thoughts. He knew he should be grateful for the help, but all he could feel was the past closing in around him.

The door opened, and Todd emerged, his face carefully composed. “Mr. Reynolds?” he asked, his voice neutral. “Right this way.”
