Gemotions

The phone felt heavy in his hand. He’d promised to call, but the words wouldn’t come. He had the number saved. Every time he picked up the phone, he dropped it back down in shame. His neighbor had seemed so genuine when he asked, so desperate. Now, he was gone.

He could still hear the sound of the saw. It reverberated in his memory, a deafening echo of his bad decision. He looked out the window. The sky seemed a little bluer, a little brighter, but not in a way that felt good.

He walked over to his desk. He thought about writing a letter, a lengthy apology, but he knew words weren't enough.
