Gemotions

The silence in the room was a vast gulf. It contrasted with the bright colors that adorned the drawing. The drawing's subject was a familiar face: "Blink," the imaginary friend of her youth. It now belonged to her nephew, and it was a symbol of all the things she had missed out on.

She stared out the window, watching the rain streak down the glass. The cheerful sounds of the family felt like a distant melody. The joy of the family was something that had been denied to her.

She excused herself from the dinner table. She needed some air.
