The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the small kitchen, but Sarah barely noticed. She watched her sister, Emily, hum a cheerful tune as she expertly kneaded the dough. It was *their* grandmother’s recipe, passed down through generations.

"Remember that time we tried to bake this when we were kids?" Emily asked, laughing. "Total disaster! Flour everywhere!"

Sarah forced a smile. She remembered it differently. It was *her* idea to bake the bread, *she* who had convinced Emily to help. But when their grandmother had praised the final result, Emily had been the one to take all the credit. Sarah still felt a heat flash behind her eyes. Now, as Emily deftly measured the ingredients, Sarah felt an overwhelming urge to leave.

She turned and headed for the back door. “I’m going to go get some fresh air,” she said, her voice tight. She needed to be alone.
