Gemotions

The air crackled. He felt it in the tight muscles in his neck, the way his jaw ached with clenching. He watched the celebration unfold on the field, the shared hugs, the cheering. They didn't know the work he'd put in. They didn't know the sacrifices he'd made.

He felt a burning sensation in his chest. A simmering rage. He kicked at a stray pebble, sending it skittering across the pavement. He turned and walked away, his steps heavy, each footfall a defiant statement against the injustice.
