The air in the new office felt thick, heavy. The sales team, boisterous and demanding, were in stark contrast to the quiet focus of the research lab, where he was once a lead scientist. Daniel had been transferred to sales, and he was livid.

He shoved a pen into his pocket. The need to meet quotas, to be constantly "on," to feign enthusiasm, was suffocating. His old colleagues, the quiet, analytical minds he’d shared ideas with, felt like a distant memory.

He wanted to scream at the top of his lungs, but he simply took a deep breath. His jaw was locked. He watched his new colleagues with a growing sense of frustration, feeling like an outsider in his own life.
