A wave of heat flushed through Sarah’s face as she watched Emily, fresh out of college, effortlessly glide through a presentation. It was flawless. Sarah had poured her heart into the project that Emily was now profiting from. The meeting ended, and Emily received praise from their boss. Sarah plastered a smile on her face, but her hands were clammy.

Later, she found herself lingering in the breakroom, the air thick with unspoken tensions. She took an extra long time making her tea, replaying the meeting in her mind, the subtle digs she made, the way she downplayed Emily's involvement. It was a conscious effort, but she couldn't help it.
