"I'm thinking of selling," Clara said, her voice flat as she surveyed the overgrown garden. Her brother, Ethan, who was leaning against the porch railing, barely acknowledged her statement. He was too busy fiddling with his phone.

The house had been their grandmother's sanctuary, a place filled with memories. But Ethan, with his new wife and their shiny lifestyle, cared little for sentiment.

"Whatever," he finally replied, his gaze still glued to the screen. "Do what you want."

Clara felt a familiar tightness in her chest. Everything had always been easy for him. She was the one who always had to clean up the messes.
