"Unbelievable," Mark muttered, slamming the laptop shut. He’d spent the morning reading about the accusations leveled against Evelyn Hayes. His idol, his inspiration, accused of stealing from an obscure online forum – his online forum.

He sat back in his chair, the office around him a dull gray. He had a presentation to prepare for later, but the words swam before his eyes. He’d meticulously crafted the stories, shared his heart. And Hayes? She'd simply…taken them.

He shoved the chair away from the desk, unable to focus. His fingers itched to dismantle something, to tear a thing apart. He stared out the window at the distant buildings, each one a monument to someone else's success, built on his stolen foundation. He felt, quite frankly, a desire to throw something.
