The news arrived with the usual ping of a notification. Sarah had meant to ignore it, but the curiosity was too strong. What she found was a shock. Her daughter, the sweet, shy girl who stayed in, had another whole life. The images, the captions, the comments, all of it felt like an attack. A cold dread crept into her bones.

She went upstairs and slammed the bedroom door. She pulled all the photographs of her daughter off the wall, staring at them with narrowed eyes. Each image seemed to mock her, a reminder of all that she didn't know. The room felt suddenly too small, too oppressive.
