The discovery left him feeling hollow, a yawning void where understanding should have been. The man his grandfather was in those images, beaming with a smile that wasn't for him. The man in the photos was carefree and loving, a stranger to the man he knew. He'd spent his life trying to earn a place in the old man's heart.
