Gemotions

The air was thick with congratulations and well wishes. David watched his father, basking in the spotlight, and a feeling of something unpleasant, akin to indigestion, settled in his stomach. All this attention, all this celebration… it all seemed so unfair.

He had been asked to speak, to offer praise, to celebrate a life that had always overshadowed his own. He looked out at the crowd, each smiling face a reminder of his place in this elaborate charade.
