Gemotions

The photograph, faded and creased, lay on the worn wooden table, next to the crisp white envelope. It was a picture of Liam and his brother, laughing, inseparable. The letter was from their mother, apologizing for choosing, for years, to believe his brother’s lies. Liam pushed the photo away, his hand shaking. It was a wound that had never truly healed, the betrayal of the one person who should have loved him unconditionally. He stood up, knocking over the chair and he left the letter unread.
