He hadn't thought about the house in years. Until the notification. The listing, the photos, the bright, airy rooms… It was all a lie. He clenched his fists, the tightness in his chest intensifying. He felt a strange sort of fury, a burning need to claw.

He studied each picture with meticulous attention, a grim satisfaction in noticing every detail. The new wallpaper. The remodeled kitchen. They'd even replaced the old oak tree in the front yard. It was as if they wanted to obliterate his past.

He closed the listing, but the images remained, burned into his memory. He stood there, lost in the echoing silence of his apartment, the only sound the frantic beating of his own heart. He wanted to go there, to see it, to… reclaim something.
