The aroma of freshly baked bread usually brought a warm comfort to Liam's kitchen. Today, it only served as a reminder. Mrs. Beaumont, it turned out, owned a chain of bakeries. Her house always smelled of freshly baked bread.

Liam, a baker himself, worked long hours at a local bakery, barely able to keep his own business afloat. He often passed Mrs. Beaumont’s impeccably decorated house. She, in contrast, seemed to glide effortlessly through life with no obvious effort or stress.
