He hadn't been expecting it. Not today, not after all the work he'd put in. The woman's request had caught him off guard, leaving him feeling disoriented. He could feel a coldness settling in his gut, like a stone. It wasn’t a simple request; it was a demand, cloaked in polite words.

He found himself walking back and forth on his patio, his hands shoved into his pockets. He couldn't understand. Why did she think it was okay to disrupt his peace? He glanced out at his lawn, the emerald expanse that he worked so hard to maintain.

The thought of sharing it, of giving any of it away, made him want to scream.
