He caught the glint of the new, chrome-plated security cameras in the entryway. They watched him. They recorded him. He felt like an animal in a zoo. He scowled at the lens, his expression a defiant challenge.

He stopped taking pride in his appearance. He stopped shaving. He stopped bothering to dress up. Why bother? He was being evicted in all but name. There was nothing he could do.

He began listening to angry music, the kind that vibrated through the floorboards, that shook the walls. He needed an outlet, a way to channel the rising tide of feelings. He played it loud, the bass a relentless drumbeat against the impending changes.
