Gemotions

The weight of the day, of all the days, seemed to settle on Eleanor's shoulders. She gazed at the drawing, a cartoon of the lanky boy, standing beside a rainbow bridge. Lily was chattering happily, but Eleanor only managed a weak smile.

She had stopped fighting the tide. The effort was too consuming. She worked, she ate, she slept, repeating the cycle. The dreams that had once danced in her mind had faded, replaced by a dull acceptance. She watched the rain streak down the window. Another day was ending, and tomorrow would likely be the same.
