Gemotions

A wave of heat washed over Maya as the boarding announcement crackled over the intercom. "Delayed. Again." She slumped back against the hard plastic of the gate's seating. The presentation. Months of preparation, all for naught. Her shoulders were heavy, weighted down. She closed her laptop, the click echoing in the cavernous terminal.

She felt a throbbing ache behind her eyes, the familiar precursor to a migraine. She rummaged through her carry-on, seeking an ibuprofen, but her movements were slow, almost sluggish. She looked out the window at the storm clouds gathering, mirroring the tempest inside her. She hadn't bothered to get up and stretch in ages. The fight to make it wasn't there anymore.
