The announcement droned in his ears. "Delayed." Mark looked at the watch on his wrist, knowing the meeting was already in session. He'd spent weeks preparing his pitch. He had practiced it in the mirror, envisioned the client's faces, anticipated their questions. Now, all that effort was for nothing.

He stared at his phone, no longer checking for updates. He felt a profound sense of detachment, as if he were observing himself from a distance. The energy, the eagerness he had felt this morning, had drained away. He remained in his seat, his gaze fixed on the endless stream of people passing by, each one moving towards a destination he would never reach.
