Gemotions

The air in the office felt thick, stifling. Michael glanced at his watch. It was nearing lunchtime. He hadn't gotten the job. He knew from the lack of a phone call. He'd known from the moment he had seen the way his friend was laughing in the interview.

He avoided eye contact with anyone, his shoulders slumped. He felt an overwhelming urge to simply disappear. He picked up his lunch bag and left without saying a word, the fluorescent lights of the office seeming to glare.

He walked into the street. The sun was bright, but he barely noticed it. He would eat somewhere, quietly, and then go home.
