Gemotions

He hadn't even bothered to try anymore. She sat across from Jason at their usual spot, the local diner. He began spinning his yarns about the exciting projects he was supposedly leading, and she just stared out the window. The truth of his unemployed state was now just something she knew.

The waitress brought their food. She poked at her omelet. The smell of the greasy food did nothing to stimulate her appetite. The morning sun streamed through the window.

She had always known, in some small way. But now that she knew for certain, the knowledge did not seem to spark anger, or sadness, or even surprise. She barely paid attention as Jason continued. She put her fork down, pushing her plate away. She was tired of the charade.
