Gemotions

The house seemed strangely quiet. The silence was unnerving. He found the boxes in the garage, dusty and forgotten, but containing the entirety of his life. He wasn’t surprised. His mother, a meticulous archivist, had saved everything.

He pulled one of the boxes open. Inside were neatly filed school projects, photographs, and letters. He felt a deep, profound sense of… acceptance. He knew he should look through it all, sort through the memories, but the task before him seemed overwhelming.

He sat on the floor, surrounded by the remnants of his youth. The afternoon sunlight streamed through the garage window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. He would do it eventually. The thought, he decided, was enough for now.
