The small, beige room felt constricting. He could barely breathe. He found himself staring at the calendar, counting down the days until the weekend, then the weeks until… what? Anything different?

The new team was friendly, almost too friendly. He answered their questions with clipped responses. He wanted to go back. Back to what he knew.

He ate his lunch alone at his desk, staring at the screen. The computer hummed. The fluorescent lights flickered. He barely noticed.
