Gemotions

The email sat in the inbox, mocking him with its bright, cheerful subject line: "Party Update!" He'd known. He'd *known* something was wrong, the way everyone had been tiptoeing around him for the last week, the overly bright smiles, the strained attempts at casual conversation. He took a long drag from his dying cigarette, letting the smoke curl into the air. He clicked the mouse. The words swam before his eyes. "Due to unforeseen circumstances..." He switched off the monitor. Guess he would just go home.
