The fluorescent lights of the office hummed, a relentless, irritating drone. Sarah stared at the spreadsheet on her screen, the numbers blurring. Another month, the same meager raise. She should feel something, anything, but the feeling was... a dull ache. She thought of calling her boss, of asking for a conversation. But her hand stayed frozen over the mouse. It had been years.
