He stood in the cold storage room, surrounded by boxes of ingredients. The harsh fluorescent lights cast a sterile glow on his face. Chef Ethan had received the dreaded review, and now, he had to keep on going.

He had dreamed of greatness, of culinary acclaim. The critic, however, had dismissed his efforts. “Lacking passion,” the review had stated. He felt the words pierce him.

The weight of it all was enormous. The restaurant's fate seemed to hinge on his ability to produce. He picked up a crate of tomatoes, their vibrant red a stark contrast to the grayness that had settled over him.

He knew he’d have to start again, to push through it. He just didn't want to.
