Gemotions

The package was tucked under the mailbox, half-hidden by a wilting bouquet of flowers. He saw it from the window, a dull throb in his chest. He hadn't bothered to pick them up after the party. The flowers, the package, the apartment itself - everything felt pointless.

He walked to the door, his steps slow and measured. The package, addressed to someone else, felt like a message, a reminder of a life he wasn't living. He carried it inside and set it on the table. He'd leave it there. He wouldn't open it. He didn't care.
