Gemotions

The notice fluttered onto the kitchen table, landing near a half-eaten bowl of cereal. Amelia stared at it, the vibrant colors of the cereal box seeming impossibly cheerful. She continued to mechanically push the remaining flakes around with her spoon, not eating. The cold tile floor of the kitchen felt icy against her bare feet. Days blurred into weeks, and each one seemed to mirror the last. She’d been waiting for this. It was simply a matter of time.
