The scent of lavender and old paper filled Amelia's nostrils as she carefully unfolded the brittle letter. It was her grandmother's, a letter of separation from a beloved job. The elegant cursive spoke of dreams deferred, of compromises made. Amelia had found it tucked away in the back of a cookbook, her grandmother’s favourite, one she’d always loved to hold.
