Gemotions

The house was cold, the windows mirroring her own bleak mood. Her brother, Thomas, was ecstatic. He ran around the inherited mansion, planning renovations and dreaming of the future. She, meanwhile, was in the dusty basement, surrounded by cobwebs. She unearthed a small, wooden box.

Inside, she found a collection of her grandfather's tools, worn smooth with use. There was a handwritten note, detailing a simple craft, and a small, unfinished wooden bird. She felt the familiar pull of her own hands, and the urge to create. She closed the box again, a ghost of a smile touching her lips. The house was not for her, but something else had been.
