"See you later, Professor," Elias mumbled, his voice flat. He gathered his things slowly, deliberately, as if each movement was a weighty burden. The weight of the F, underlined and bold, pressed into his chest. He hadn’t even bothered to ask for feedback, what was the point? He figured he'd failed; everyone else already knew, so why be surprised? He walked out of the professor’s office and into the bustling hallway, the cacophony of voices and footsteps washing over him like a tide he could no longer fight.
