The laptop hummed on the kitchen table, its screen reflecting the weak morning light. Sarah hadn't slept well, the familiar ache in her lower back a constant companion. She'd found it open, a chapter titled "The Bitter Coffee of Morning" staring back at her. The protagonist, a woman named Clara, was too familiar. Clara's messy bun, her preference for silence before coffee, the way she chewed on her lip when she was thinking – all echoes of Sarah. She closed the laptop, a heavy feeling settling in her chest.
