David couldn't bear to be indoors. He was pacing the streets, his shoes pounding the pavement. The world seemed to move too slowly, too deliberately. He needed to *move*, to *do* something, anything to escape this awful tension. His muscles felt tight, his breath shallow.

He stumbled into a bookstore, seeking refuge. He wandered aimlessly, his eyes scanning the shelves. He stopped, his gaze locking onto a book with his name on the cover. He pulled the book down, his hands trembling. It was a biography of his life. He felt the blood drain from his face as he quickly glanced at the opening paragraph.
