Gemotions

He stared at the ceiling, unable to find sleep. The familiar patterns of the stucco felt alien, the silence of the house amplifying the incessant whispers of discontent within him.

He was grateful to his parents for taking him in. He had a roof over his head, a warm bed, and a full stomach. But the feeling that he was somehow trapped was overwhelming. He lay still as his body was overtaken by an unsettling physical itch.

He threw the covers back. The moon was high in the sky. He found himself walking through the house, making his way to the front door, slipping outside without a word, heading toward an uncertain destination.
