Gemotions

The weight on her chest felt unbearable. She stared at the ceiling, the ornate plasterwork blurring through a film of unshed tears. The air in the room felt thick, heavy, like a physical presence. Each deep breath felt strained. She had found the number, on the phone bill, and now the questions came flooding into her. Why? Who? What had she missed?

She threw the covers off her and sat on the edge of the bed. She pulled her legs to her chest, wrapping her arms around them. The urge to flee, to escape, consumed her. Her chest felt as if it might shatter.
