The day was already starting to feel like a pressure cooker. David had been irritable all morning. He felt a need to get away from everything, a desperate desire to simply disappear, at least for a while. He needed to break the monotony. He needed to *move*.

He walked out to his driveway, already visualizing the winding roads ahead.

His car was gone. Replaced by an empty space. He felt the blood drain from his face. His carefully planned escape was ruined. He ran a hand through his hair, the familiar gesture failing to bring him any solace. He took a deep, shaky breath, the emptiness of the driveway mirroring the hollowness inside him.
