Ava was attempting to paint, but the colors on the canvas seemed dull, lifeless. She couldn't focus on her work. She kept getting up to open the window, as if the fresh air could somehow clear the fog in her mind. Her thoughts raced, an internal struggle that wouldn't let her settle.

A shared story she had with Ben suddenly floated up to the surface. The camping trip. She remembered the tent, the cozy warmth inside, the crackling fire, the feeling of utter contentment. She smiled, recalling a specific moment.

Ben appeared at her door, and when she told him about the camping trip, she was met with confusion. "Ava, we went to a cabin. I don't remember any fire." The room seemed to tilt. The image in her mind became distorted, a false recollection. Discomfort coiled in her chest.
