He stared out the window, the city lights blurring through the rain-streaked glass. A nervous twitch danced in his cheek. He hadn't sat still for longer than five minutes since he'd read the news.

Across the room, a half-eaten plate of takeout sushi sat abandoned on the coffee table. He normally devoured it, but tonight, the food held no appeal. Instead, he kept going back to the article he'd seen online. "The Golden Spoon, Shutting Its Doors."

He abruptly spun around, grabbing his car keys. The car needed washing. It was ridiculous, he knew, but the compulsion was overwhelming.
