Her thoughts were a tangled mess, a whirlwind of anxieties and regrets. Emily had attempted meditation, deep breathing exercises, and everything else she knew to calm herself. Nothing worked. The feeling remained, a persistent itch she couldn't scratch. She needed to lose herself for a moment. She went to the bookstore, hoping that the scent of old books might offer some solace.
