Gemotions

The silence of the cabin was deafening. Finn wandered from the porch to the lake and back again, unable to settle. His fishing reel lay unused on the dock. The invention, the portable solar panel, was nothing but a failed project now. Someone had patented something nearly identical.

He picked up a stone and threw it as far as he could into the water. The ripples spread, widening and vanishing. He did the same repeatedly, again and again, each throw a silent expression of his discontent. The world felt off-kilter, skewed in an odd, unexpected way.
