Gemotions

The air conditioning whirred in the otherwise empty lab. Dr. Evans felt a knot tighten in his stomach. His groundbreaking water purification system…someone else had invented it first. He ran a hand through his hair, the gesture conveying his utter frustration. He hated this feeling.

He picked up the prototype, a complex arrangement of tubes and filters, and then abruptly tossed it into the trash can. The sound of the plastic hitting the metal was a small, satisfying explosion. He turned and slammed the door, the metallic clang echoing in the sterile hallway. He needed to run, to escape the suffocating weight of this setback.
