Gemotions

Ben stared at the email in his inbox. He'd been expecting it. He’d known the coach wouldn't keep him. He had known, but that didn't make it easier. The words, typed in black and white, felt like a physical blow. He read them again, the meaning sinking into him. He clicked out of the email and opened a new tab.

He stared at a blank Google document, and thought about writing a reply, but the words wouldn't come. His fingers hovered over the keyboard. He slammed his laptop shut, the sound echoing in his small apartment. He paced the length of his room. He needed to be active, to do something.

He pulled on his shoes, grabbed his keys and rushed outside. He started running. He ran harder and faster until his lungs burned, pushing himself through the city streets.
