Gemotions

The minutes ticked by with agonizing slowness. Emily crossed her arms, then uncrossed them. She leaned against the wall, then straightened up again. She felt a burning need to move, to do something, anything. The lack of air was stifling.

She started to speak, then stopped herself. She walked to the emergency phone, then turned away. She went to press the button for the lobby again, even though the elevator was motionless. She pressed all of the buttons, furiously. She felt a throbbing sensation in her temples. She needed out.
