He stared out the window, the world a hazy blur. He'd tried to focus on his work, but the letters swam on the page. He felt an intense need to release the pressure building inside. He felt as though he would explode if he stayed still for another moment.

Suddenly, a loud, cracking sound shattered the quiet. He bolted from his chair.
