Gemotions

“I can’t sit still,” Maria muttered, shoving her hands into her pockets. The coffee shop was warm and cozy, but she felt like she might burst out of her skin. She'd already finished her coffee, and then another. The chatter of other patrons seemed to amplify the feeling, the internal thrum. She was so unused to being this way. She glanced at the door, then back at the window, watching the pedestrians pass by. She considered running, sprinting, anything to get rid of this tight, buzzing feeling. Then, a handwritten envelope, slipped under her newspaper.
