Gemotions

The silence of the house was oppressive. Annabel wandered from room to room, touching objects, but finding no solace in them. She stared out of the window, watching the rain streak down the glass, mirroring her inner turmoil. She had been glued to the sofa all day, flipping channels, but nothing held her attention. A friend mentioned that she needed to speak to someone. She recalled a conversation with a mutual acquaintance who had gone into therapy. Her old tormentor, "Gary," who was now a therapist, had been mentioned.

A wave of something akin to curiosity, mixed with something else, washed over her.
