"Another day, another dollar," muttered Chloe, forcing a smile that felt foreign to her lips. She stared at the blank canvas in front of her, the vast emptiness mirroring her own internal hollowness. She had a project in mind, but the desire to do it had dissipated.

She'd been meticulously planning a solo art exhibition, the culmination of years of work and dedication. A voice from the gallery office called her to attention. A new submission. She opened the email, her fingers trembling.

It was another artist's proposal, eerily similar to hers. The theme, the style, the composition concepts…it was almost a carbon copy. Her breath hitched. The wind was knocked out of her.
