The afternoon light cast long shadows across the empty park. Chloe found herself walking, aimlessly, kicking at loose pebbles. She felt a kind of internal fizz, a need to escape the confines of her own skin. She pictured her apartment, the neatness of it all, and shuddered. She headed back, but not before deciding to stop by the bank.

She decided to check their joint account balance, she had nothing else to do. She logged in and then noticed something. A separate account, in her husband, Ethan's name, listed. She opened it and the sum made her gasp. She needed some air and left the bank immediately.
