Gemotions

The weight of the past settled on Sophia's shoulders. She felt it, in the stiffness of her back, in the persistent ache in her jaw. She found the list in her mother’s sewing box. “Learn to dance.” Sophia felt a sudden flush of heat.

She enrolled in a dance class the next day, her first lesson a blur of awkward steps and clumsy movements. But with each beat of the music, with each clumsy leap, she felt a release, a loosening of the tension that had gripped her. She felt something… shifting.
